This authentic, "SA" ( STURMABTEILUNG ) helmet is a LUFTSCHUTZ, or so-called "gladiator" style, lightweight-steel helmet, which was decaled with "SA" transfers ( circa 1941-1945 ), and repainted in a smooth, SIENNA BROWN color. The "original" blue-gray, factory finish is still visible, inside the helmet dome, and around the helmet rim, the "beaded" ridge, and also around both decals. The one-piece construction helmet "shell" has the double, "salt shaker" style, 7-hole air vents on each side . The inside of the large rear helmet "skirt" is die-stamped "R L 2". The right side decal is the PLATINUM-FOIL, SA-style eagle & swastika, with reddish-brown accents, which has been clearly "painted-around". The left side decal is the half-dollar-sized, "SA" RUNIC symbol, in PLATINUM-FOIL, and reddish brown, and is also "painted-around" . The helmet liner system consists of a "civil-style", tan leather liner, with nine tongues, secured, at their apexes, with a length of brown shoelace .
